Comprendre les enjeux de l'agriculture

Abundant grain harvests around the world are driving prices down. According to the US Department of Agriculture, wheat harvests for the 2024-2025 campaign are expected to amount to 798 million tonnes, corn harvests to 1.22 billion tonnes and soybean harvests to 429 million tonnes. In ten years, wheat production has increased by 10%, that of corn by 20% and soya by 34%.

Prices therefore fell on the Chicago Stock Exchange. They are at their lowest since 2020. In Paris, the price of soft wheat fell from 217 euros per tonne to 207 euros while a tonne of corn fell below 200 euros per tonne. We are far from the records reached in spring 2022, following Russia’s invasion of Ukraine.
