Comprendre les enjeux de l'agriculture

On 2 December, 7,000 New York inmates ate something other than meatloaf or burgers for Monday lunch. They ate veggie chilli. 11 prisons and correctional facilities, most of which are part of the ominous Rikers Island complex, will no longer serve meat on Mondays. It will be replaced by a plant-based substitute. New York prisons are joining the trend of Meatless Mondays, launched in 2003 by The Monday Campaigns initiative by the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health. The campaign criticises the excessive consumption of red meat and processed meat which, according to its spokesperson, is linked to chronic illnesses such as heart disease, diabetes and obesity.
