In the United States, innovation in agricultural robotics is providing promising solutions to the labour shortage in the sector. With fewer seasonal workers and increased restrictions on immigration, farmers are increasingly turning to automation to meet their needs.
Technologies such as autonomous tractors, harvesting robots and automated irrigation systems are transforming the way people work, making farms more efficient while reducing dependence on human labour. For example, robots are now using artificial intelligence and computer vision to identify and eliminate weeds, without the need for chemicals.
However, this transition to robotization raises questions. Some fear a negative impact on agricultural employment and rural communities, while others are cautious about the cost and real effectiveness of these solutions compared to human labour.
Despite these challenges, agricultural robotics continues to progress, offering interesting prospects for responding to the challenges of shortage while sustainably transforming the sector.
