Comprendre les enjeux de l'agriculture

A project, adopted by a very large majority of parliamentarians, provides, among other things, for a carbon tax on livestock farming and the transformation of 10% of the country’s surface area into natural and forest areas. This agreement, presented by 5 ministers on November 18, 2024 in Copenhagen, is considered “historic”, since it will accelerate the ecological transition of the agricultural sector, at one of Europe’s main meat and milk exporters.

The text notably plans to reduce Denmark’s emissions by 1.8 to 2.6 million tonnes of CO2 equivalent by 2030 (from 55% to 60% compared to 1990), through the implementation of a carbon tax on livestock farming and the reforestation of 250,000 hectares, as well as the limitation of nitrogen leakage to rivers.
