Comprendre les enjeux de l'agriculture

With the goal of protecting ecosystems and soils while promoting long-term sustainability, soil conservation is a process that respects the diversity and rotation of land affected by overexploitation. Regenerative agriculture is thus a way of promoting biological respect for the soil’s rest periods. Australia has been facing major water crises, droughts, forest fires and various extreme weather conditions in recent decades.

In order to preserve its arable land, Australia has put in place a comprehensive strategy to promote soil regeneration. Indeed, regenerative agriculture is now popular because it improves the resilience of crops, strengthens soil fertility and increases biodiversity. This program, which aims to support this practice, involves the implementation of financial incentives, as well as awareness-raising to strengthen knowledge in this field. Administered by the Australian Department of Agriculture, Water and Environment, this incentive policy will encourage local farmers to better respect organic rest, reduce farming and promote crop rotation. This will improve soil health, biodiversity, carbon sequestration and resilience to climate change. Launched 6 years ago, this initiative is part of a long-term strategy that evolves according to the funding extensions implemented by government agencies and the different phases of the project.
