Agfunder, a global platform specialising in agri-foodtech, has just published its 2019 report. Salient points are as follow:
- The sector raised a total of $19.8 billion in funds in 2019, down 4.8% on last year, but up by 250% on the previous five years;
- Certain categories have seen significant growth: alternative meats, indoor and vertical farming, and food deliveries using robots; In Europe, particularly in the UK, investment has doubled.
- A proliferation of partnerships with tech giants: Softbank, Temasek, Amazon, Microsoft, KKR, Sequoia, T. Rowe Price, etc.
