Comprendre les enjeux de l'agriculture

In July 2024, the EU recorded an 8% increase in its agri-food trade surplus compared to the previous month, reaching 6.1 billion. This increase is due to the increase in exports, with a cumulative surplus from January to July 2024 amounting to €39.7 billion.

Monthly performance:

  1. February 2024 : The surplus reached €6.2 billion, marking an increase of 24% compared to January. This was due to a 5% increase in exports, totalling €19.4 billion, thanks in particular to strong global demand for olives and olive oil.
  2. July 2024 : The surplus increased by 8% compared to the previous month, reaching €6.1 billion. Exports reached €20.8 billion, up 10% compared to June and 15% compared to July 2023. This growth is mainly attributed to increased sales to the United States and the United Kingdom and the sharp increase in sales of olives and olive oils.
