Despite rising olive oil prices due to decreased production, Tunisia has seen a surge in its exports, up by 54% in the last season compared to the previous one.
The National Oil Office (ONH) reported an export turnover of 3 billion Tunisian dinars, nearly $1 billion, for this season.
Extra virgin olive oil accounts for nearly 90% of the exported volumes.
Despite a 20% drop in domestic production, Tunisian exports benefited from the decline in Spanish exports, which usually represent 40% of the global supply.
