At the CES 2020, both Samsung and LG exhibited a new generation model of refrigerator that recognises food thanks to the use of artificial intelligence. Samsung’s Family Hub Refrigerator and LG’s InstaView ThinQ Fridge are equipped with cameras that identify food by scanning the contents of the packaging and recipients. The refrigerator can then inform the owner about products they might be running out of or suggest recipes based on what it contains. The lucky owner can even, when in the supermarket, use their smartphone to view the contents of their refrigerator so that they don’t forget to buy anything…
